On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Mr. Tahir Ezaalddin, Chairman of the Halabja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended the welcoming ceremony for the new U.S. Consulate General in Erbil. The event was also attended by Mr. Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the chairmen of the Kurdistan Region’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and several other party and government officials. During the ceremony, Mr. Mark Straw, the outgoing U.S. Consul General in Erbil, bid farewell, and Mr. Steve Peter officially began his role as the new Consul General of the United States in Erbil
